You Can Make A Difference!
Volunteers are the foundation and heart of Chattanooga Room in the Inn. Many vital functions are provided by volunteers including meal preparation, activities for children, fundraising committees, special projects, and life skills instruction. Additionally, volunteers help maintain the facility and grounds, and provide assistance with office duties.
Ranging from successful homemakers to seasoned executives, each individual involved with Room in the Inn brings their own special touch. Have you thought about becoming a volunteer? Room in the Inn could use your help!
Board of Directors
Chattanooga Room in the Inn's Board of Directors is the legally responsible authority for the agency. As an administrative, policy-making board, it establishes the framework for the agency's operations. Board members are nominated and selected because of their ability to exercise leadership and represent a broad cross-section in the community. The term of a director is three years with participation on at least one of six committees.
Our child advocates provide help and supervision for up to 15 children, ages newborn to 17 years old. Primary times needed are from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday evenings and during life skills classes.
Evening meals are served buffet style at the shelter between 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Food Preparers bring a meal once a month for up to 30 people.
As with any residential or commercial property there are ongoing maintenance needs for the building and grounds.
Life Skills Instructor
Providing educational help in the area of life skills, our instructors teach classes on credit counseling, personal hygiene, parenting skills, nutrition, and anger management. Classes take place twice a month for one hour of instruction.
Hours vary according to need. In addition to assisting the staff with daily office operations, office volunteers may be called upon to help out during quarterly fundraising events.
Special Events Committees
Chattanooga Room in the Inn hosts various fundraising events throughout the year. Each event has a committee that handles certain areas of the event such as Publicity and Promotions, Sponsorship, Decorations, etc. The committees consist of volunteers in the community who would like to volunteer on a short-term basis.
